Dear Friends of the Orphanage:
Rom 10:13-15 tells us: "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"
We had asked last month for you to let us know if you wished to remain on our mailing list. We also offered you the alternative of receiving our newsletter by e-mail. If you have not responded, or do not respond this month, you will be removed from our list.
We have almost completed our 4th year of bringing God?s heart to the poor and afflicted in Palomas. Even as construction on the Orphanage continues, the ministry teams continue in outreach to the community. We can truly say that God has blessed this work, even as we see Him touch both our lives and the lives of the people there. Now, others are seeking to work with us. We have been asked to become involved in a medical outreach to the area by a New Mexico state agency. We have been asked to become involved in a Senior Center in Ascension. We pray that God continues to give us both wisdom and vision as we seek to bring the Good News in very practical ways to people in that area.
In February, our work week-end is February 8 - 9. Remember, our work week-end begins on the second Saturday of each month. Our next planned major community outreach will be for Mother?s Day, May 10 - 11.
We have had major problems getting the much-needed electrical power into the Orphanage. It turns out that we will have 3-phase power brought in, and both the transformer and pole have already been placed on the property. However, through some sort of misunderstanding, we have now learned that this power is going to cost ,400 more than expected. The Mayor of Ascension has pledged to pay $1,400 towards overcoming this shortfall, and one of our sponsor churches has pledged $1,000, so we need an additional ,000 to get it done. We are going to pull out the last reserves from our construction funds to do this, because it is a very high priority, but this means we need to replenish the construction funds to move ahead there. Please ask your church to become involved in this effort. We still need quite a few thousand dollars to get things done, and we feel completion is within our grasp.
We also need volunteers. In addition to the food and prayer ministry teams, we are doing plumbing, sheet-rocking, taping, texturing, and wall surfacing this month. We hope to install 7 toilets this month, and be ready for the tie-in to the new city sewer lines, which should be in place any time now. Then, our volunteers will be able to stay at the Orphanage!
Please seek the Lord in prayer for this ministry. God is opening doors for us to impact everyone, from the political leaders to the downtrodden, and we need boldness and perseverance in following the guidance of the Holy Spirit. We continue to believe that Casa de Amor para Niņos will have a major influence in the area in bringing Jesus and His Love to those who so desperately need it. Once construction is done, it is our hope to develop a Christian School at the Orphanage, where children will live during the week, going home on week-ends. This is going to take a lot of resources. We also need a Christian couple who are teachers to lead this school. Pray the Lord of the harvest will send His workers into the harvest! Please pray that even more Christian churches will become involved!
